Common Thread is a concept for a coffee shop in the heart of the Garment District that offers a lofty space to work and encourages interaction and community.

It's a love letter to the Fashion District of New York and is meant to offer a quiet moment to refuel and inspire creativity by incorporating physical interactive elements like a large pinboard wall where people can post anything from sketches, swatches, flyers, business cards. There are pieces of history and vintage machinery throughout, reminding locals of the historical district they live and work in. I also wanted there to be a small fabric donation point and maybe a monthly competition for a featured designer(s) to make a piece for display from recycled burlap coffee bags. Maybe it will also be an event space people can rent out.

Inspired by the neighborhood I'm in every day, I wanted to make a little oasis is creative and community-oriented, reminds people of the industry's history and evolution, and by extension, hopefully inspires people to change the future for the better.
